There´s an old saying which was coined by a legendary german soccer coach who once said "elf Freunde müsst ihr sein", which roughly translated means that in order for things to work out well on the pitch 'everyone shall be friends with everybody else on the team'.  Within the Hall of Famers that´s sooo easily done because we reach out to one another on and off the field.  Friendship is not something we take for granted and assume that it´ll just come by itself; it´s something we have worked on since we first started the team back in the late 80ies. In fact, it was started by a close network of friends who are still active members and who believe that new recruits should not only be interested in playing the game but should fit into the mold of who we are and how we engage with one another.

This has rubbed off and has spilled over into many different aspects of social engagements over the course of time. For example, there are a handful of players who also play golf and who tee-off together on any given sunday when there are no games of ours scheduled.  We even reach out to golfers from other teams and ask them if they are available to come and join.  Some enjoy teaming up and going to the movies; big hits have been the Karaoke Nights or the pub-quizzes.  But above all it´s music-gigs we attend where bands perform that feature our players, perhaps you have heard about the main band Too Far Gone which has played many times in the last ten years and which has garnered rave reviews even by folks outside our circle. 

So yes, we truly enjoy each others company regardless of where we get together.  And those get-togethers are planned mostly in the beer-garden we all go to right after our games. That is the high-light of our sundays where we celebrate what we call "sundays, Famers sundays"!  After the game, we relax together and analyse what happened on the field in a jovial and not-too-serious manner and then move on to talk about what lays ahead. And so regardless of whether we win or lose, hangin' out after to shoot the shit whilst gripping one or several cold ones ("what time is it? It's Beer-Thirty, so beer-me!!") is an essential part of our cultural being and has a long tradition that goes back decades and has yielded many legendary stories.
